Itinerary

Day 1 Dambulla - Sigiriya

The tour will commence after breakfast, embarking on a journey to Dambulla to explore its renowned cave temple. This temple boasts a rich history dating back to the 1st Century B. C. It has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, encapsulating the proud heritage of the region. Next, you can explore the legendary rock fortress of Sigiriya, which is also a UNESCO site. Dating back to the 5th Century, this 200m-high rock once housed a fabled palace, now in ruins. From its summit, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama. Take a moment to admire the ancient artwork of the island, including the famous "Sigiriya damsels," captivating frescoes that are over 1500 years old.

(Dinner) | Sigiriya – Hotel Sigiriya **** or similar | ~ 150km

Day 2 Polonnaruwa

Today, we are visiting the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa, recognized by UNESCO, served as the second capital of the Singhalese kingdom and is one of the oldest kingdoms in Sri Lanka's history (1070 AD – 1284 AD). This medieval city was once the seat of power for some of the most influential rulers in the history of Ceylon, the former name of Sri Lanka. The remains of legendary palaces, gigantic pagodas, ancient sculptures in monasteries, huge manmade lakes, and many other ruins from ancient times bear witness to the prosperity of this city, which was once greatly influenced by foreign intruders in Sri Lankan history. Return to the hotel.

(Breakfast, Dinner) | Sigiriya – Hotel Sigiriya **** or similar | ~ 110km

Day 3 Spices - Kandy

Today, our journey takes us to Kandy via Mathale, traversing the transitional Zone where the arid lowlands meet the cooler hill country, creating an ideal climate for diverse spice cultivation. We encourage a visit to a spice garden to fully appreciate the importance of spices in local cuisine, along with insights into Ayurvedic herbal remedies. Upon arrival in Kandy, immerse yourself in a city tour exploring its highlights. Known as the "Last Royal City," Kandy boasts cultural richness and scenic beauty. Don't miss the renowned Tooth Relic Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, hosting a revered evening ceremony. Cap off the day with a captivating cultural show, showcasing traditional dance and music.

(Breakfast, Dinner) | Kandy – Thilanka Hotel **** or similar | ~ 95km

Day 4 Pinnawala – Negombo - End of tour

Today's highlight is the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala, where young elephants find refuge after losing their mothers or facing injuries or illness in the wild, making survival challenging. A dedicated team cares for this remarkable herd, the largest in captivity globally. Visitors can witness special moments like feeding the baby elephants and observing their bath time. After this unforgettable experience, we'll return you to your hotel, passing through stunning landscapes along the way, and concluding your tour with lasting memories of Sri Lanka's natural beauty and wildlife conservation efforts. Drive back to Negombo
