Delft Island – A Full Day Excursion

Upon arrival, your guide will provide an orientation about Delft Island, including its history, culture, and the sites you will be visiting.

Begin your exploration with a visit to the remnants of the Portuguese Fort and the colonial Dutch Hospital. Your guide will explain the historical significance of these structures. Continue to the ancient Buddhist ruins and the iconic Baobab tree, believed to be over 1,000 years old. Walk along the coral walls that are unique to the island, and observe the wild horses that freely roam the landscape.

Take a break and enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan lunch prepared by local residents. This is a great opportunity to experience the local cuisine and hospitality.

Continue your exploration with visits to other notable sites such as the pigeon nesting houses, the ancient St. Mary’s Church, and more of the island's natural beauty. Board the boat for your return journey to Jaffna. Relax and reflect on the day’s experiences as you sail back to the mainland.

Arrive back at the Kurikadduwan jetty and transfer back to your hotel in Jaffna, where your guide will bid you farewell.
